Description
The beautiful carnation surrounded by leaves featured on this mat is inspired by an arts and crafts wallpaper held in the archives of the Victoria and albert museum. Compton was designed in 1895ﾨC6 for Compton hall in Wolverhampton, England, the home of Laurence Hodson, and it was probably the result of a joint effort between William morris (1834ﾨC96) and his assistant J.H. Dearle (1859ﾨC1932).
